IDEAL Joins the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion™

A Letter from Steve Henn

I am proud to announce that IDEAL Industries is taking an action-oriented step alongsidea group of over 2,000 businesses in a collective commitment to make progress towards advancing diversity and inclusion in our workplace, communities and country. I am excited and inspired for us to join the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion™, the largest CEO-driven business commitment to advance diversity and inclusion within the workplace.

By joining this pledge, we are confirming our commitment to belonging, inclusion and diversity better known to us as BID. Our mission in BID is to allow every individual to feel valued, respected, supported and welcome to fully participate as a member of IDEAL Industries. We play an important role in our communities vowing that inclusion is core to our workplace culture and that our businesses are representative of the communities we serve. However, we also recognize we are just beginning this journey.

As part of the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion™, IDEAL Industries has committed to the following actions:

1. We will continue to cultivate our workplace to support open dialogue oncomplex, and sometimes difficult, conversations about diversity andinclusion.

2. We will make unconscious bias education available to everyone.

  • During Q2 and Q3, many of our leaders will complete at least 12 hours of education in the areas of Belonging, Inclusion and Diversity, including unconscious bias.
  • During Q4, all employees will begin to learn about topics such as unconscious bias.
  • To jump start your unconscious bias training, visit CEOAction.com to access Blind Spots, an unconscious bias training series.

3. We will share our actions and results, successful and unsuccessful—with you. Look for regular communications from our IDEAL Inclusion Council and our Women’s Inclusion Council.

4. We will create and share strategic inclusion and diversity plans with our board of directors as a way to prioritize diversity and inclusion and driveaccountability in our organization.

Similar actions are already coming to life in and around other organizations that havetaken the pledge. Visit the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion™ website to learn more about the pledge, get involved, and watch for updates on future activity.

I acknowledge these actions are not the complete answer to addressing diversity in the workplace, but we believe these are concrete steps in the right direction. This is how we come together and tap into the inherent promise that everyone can bring their best self towork and unleash their full potential. We look forward to staying connected on this effortand engaging you all in future conversations in the coming months.
