SYCAMORE, IL, November 8, 2011 – IDEAL expands its safety-enhancing PowerPlug technology for multi-pole lighting systems with the introduction of the Model 184 luminaire disconnect.
The Model 184 is a 4-pole mating connector with push-in terminations designed for tool-free, simple installation by an OEM or out in the field by an electrician. Like all IDEAL PowerPlug disconnects, the Model 184 has a wiping contact that allows an electrician to safely disconnect ballast and driver
wiring, therefore eliminating the hazard of electrical shock during retrofitting. The new Model 184 meets CEC and NEC code for non-residential fluorescent luminaires. Plus, with its Touch-Safe design on both halves, it also meets UL/CSA finger probe requirements for safe handling.
The Model 184's push-in design results in quicker connections, saving labor time and increasing productivity. In addition, because it requires only the minimal insertion force, it also reduces the risk of repetitive trauma injury. It pulls apart safely and easily.
The Model 184 is compatible with 18 AWG solid wiring and joins the existing 2, 3, and 6-pole PowerPlug family.
